Recover a Missing Child

Most of the time, a missing child is abducted by one of their parents or another close family member. When a child goes missing, the first thing you should do is contact law enforcement to notify them. If you believe your child has been abducted by your spouse or another family member, make sure you tell the police any information you may have that can help them locate that person. You can also ask the police if they would be willing to put out a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) bulletin.

Providing a recent photo of your child is also a helpful step in locating missing children. If you don’t have a photo on hand, schools typically keep children’s class pictures for records, so they may be able to provide a copy of a photo you can use to put up flyers.
