In this section we will attempt to
keep you up to date on all new legislation being considered by
the U. S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate (As well
as selected State laws) that deal with missing and abducted children.
Keep in mind that not all legislation becomes law. There are
many good bills introduced in Congress dealing with missing and
abducted children that never became law. If and when any of these
bills become law, we will move them to our section on Legislation.
The
Family Abduction Prevention Act of 2004: March 11, 2004.
U.S. Senator Russ Feingold today joined a bipartisan group of
his Senate colleagues in introducing the Family Abduction Act.
As nearly 70 percent of law enforcement agencies lack a written
policy on how to respond to a family abduction, the bill would
provide financial assistance to agencies to investigate possible
abductions and to provide training for agencies in how best to
respond to family abductions. The Family Abduction Act would
also provide assistance to public schools to help with costs
associated with flagging school records.
KEEP AN EYE ON THIS, IT COULD CHANGE HOW LAW ENFORCEMENT DEALS
WITH PARENTAL ABDUCTION
